For Maria I wanted to take a brief timeout here to ask all of my friends, family and Fighting Chance readers to take a moment and put a little girl named Maria Luise Vaughn in your thoughts and prayers.  Maria is the 2 year old Niece of Paul Greco a friend and colleague of mine in the fantasy sports industry.  Maria was diagnosed and underwent surgery for a brain tumor earlier this week and is still in the hospital recovering and awaiting further treatment.  Although we may not know Maria or her family personally, we can all identify with this grief.  Cancer has touched us all in one shape or form and for this to happen to such a young child only verifies the viciousness of the disease.  Life shouldn’t be this painful.  Not for Maria, not for her parents…not for anybody.   We all come from different backgrounds.  We support different teams.  But no matter what our affiliations are I am sure we can all agree to unite and pray for this little girl and her family as they wage a war against one of the true evils of life.    All that I ask is that you put Maria in your thoughts in the days and weeks ahead.  Pray for her, her family and let them know that we all support them in this fight.  It may not be a lot but in times like this a little support and some positive vibes can go a long way.
2010 Outfield Rankings Part 1 Many people think that the outfield is the deepest position and if you just look at it by the number of quality players the play it then you would be correct.  However, unlike the other positions each fantasy team needs multiple guys in the outfield.  Especially in leagues that require four or even five outfielders, there isn't enough talent to go around.  So, while you might not need to use a first round pick on an outfielder, don't wait too long figuring that there are plenty of quality guys to go around.  Below are the top 30 outfielders for fantasy baseball in 2010.
Don't Worry About Jose By now we all are aware that Mets shortstop Jose Reyes has been diagnosed with an overactive or hyperthyroid gland.  Reyes wasn't experiencing any symptoms from this condition and it was only found through routine blood tests that all players have as part of their physicals.  So what happens to Reyes and his fantasy value now?  He is expected to miss anywhere from 3-8 weeks while he rests and takes medicine to get his levels in check.  This condition along with his recovery from major hamstring surgery last year is giving fantasy players second thoughts about making Reyes their starting shortstop this season.  In the past 3 days we've been seeing his average draft position already falling from 19th to 25th overall and it seems like more and more people are jumping off board by the minute.  Don't do it.
