Bullpen Blows Oliver Perez Gem
For the second consecutive start, Oliver Perez looked like the pitcher we all thought we were drafting back in March. After allowing one run over seven innings against the Yankees, Perez was one step better on Sunday against the Phillies. Perez threw seven shutout innings, while striking out six. Whenever it seems that the Mets’ are playing on TV or against one of their rivals, he steps up to the challenge, but against everyone else, Perez is average at best. It is hard to say what to do with him fantasy wise. Coming into the season, I expected he would take that next step to stardom, but he is closer to losing his spot in the rotation rather than becoming a superstar.
