FA Pickups 7/25/08
C - None - I couldn’t suggest any this week who I haven’t already suggested. Chris Iannetta is a great pickup, but he is oned in 67% so he might not be widely available.
CI - Chad Tracy - Tracy is still widely available and is a great play at 3B or CI. He has good power, but won’t approach 30 like he did in 2005 again. He also has eligibility at 1B so he is a good bench reserve as well.
He is only owned in 26% of CBS leagues.
MI - Ian Stewart - Unfortunately I don’t see him getting the starts needed to retain 2B eligibility for next year, but using his power at 2B this year is a good idea. Since returning he has gone 11 for 20 and appears much more adjusted then his first callup. I think he makes a great play at 2B for the remainder of the season and gives you some extra homers.
He is only owned in 17% of CBS leagues.
OF - Adam Lind - I reviewed him awhile ago when he got his first callup. He has been hitting well since the break and for most of July. He is a 4 or 5 OF, but don’t be afraid to use him for some power on your bench spot.
He is only owned in 32% of CBS leagues.
SP - Chris Carpenter - Chris is throwing well in his minor league rehab. I think he will help your team when he gets up in August. He isn’t ready yet so don’t rush out to get him. I would claim him once you get a potential start date.
He is owned in 24% of leagues.
RP - Joel Hanrahan - His K/9 is 9.86 and a FIP of 3.60 is about the best WAS can do right now. He will get enough K’s and although you can’t expect more than 10 saves this last 2 months you need to own him as a closer on a team that will probably need a closer in any wins left this season.
He is only owned in 26% as of this morning on CBS.
