Injury news and Analysis August 6th

Let’s start off with the big names

Joba Chamberlain

I don’t have all the details (since it wasn’t released) but I did watch the replays on ESPN and he was pointing to an area where the rotator cuff is often injured when strained.  This is a slightly different pain pattern/location than impingement or inflammation and also telling in that it was quite a quick exit. …

Injury News and Analysis July 27th

Dustin McGowan

Dustin will undergo surgery on his shoulder this Thursday to repair his labrum and possibly his rotator cuff. Fraying of the labrum usually isn’t too severe a problem unless the fraying progressed into a labral tear or if there is a rotator cuff repair as well. He is obviously done for the year and depending on the damage inside his shoulder could extend well into next year…

Beyond the Boxscore–Fantasy News and Notes 7/25/08

A lot of news revolving around the Yankees/Red Sox series tonight, as Joba Chamberlain took his real first step forward to becoming a dominating starter as he went into Fenway Park and shutout the Sox over seven innings and struck out nine.  Chamberlain is going to have a big finish to the season, so I would test his value in a trade (don’t…

Injury News and Analysis July 20th

There is a long list of injuries to go over so let’s head right to it.

David Ortiz

Ortiz has taken great strides in his rehab stint and is hitting the ball to all fields with authority and even checking his swing without problems. I wrote a small piece on this over at RotoSavants (where I also write along with my main site…

Two games after the All-Star Break, two home runs for Billy Butler. He has been a power disappointment in his time in Kansas City, but perhaps this is the start of his much-anticipated breakout. In two days he doubled his home run total from the rest of the season. Butler had 13 homers in just 57 games last season in AAA…

Rich HardenThe aftermath of the Rich Harden deal has started.  Harden made his Cubs debut today, and while he didn’t last deep into the game, he certainly made an impact.  Harden lasted just 5.1 innings, but surrendered no runs and struck out 10.  He didn’t factor into the decision because the bullpen blew the lead, but this start has got to get…

Injury news and Analysis July 9th

Not quite as many injuries as everyone is starting to take a real look at their team and determine whether or not they’re going to go for it this year. We’re also nearing the point where any surgery will take up most of the second half and therefore if a new injury pops up and requires surgery, serious thoughts must be given as to whether or not to drop…

Injury News and Analysis July 6th

Ryan has graciously been doing the daily injury news in between my posts. Here is another action packed several days in terms of injury news so let’s get right to it.

  1. Elijah Dukes will miss at least 4-6 weeks after suffering a meniscal tear as well as a partial tear of the patellar tendon. This is a rather serious injury especially if the meniscal tear needs to be

Injury News & Analysis - June 25, 2008

There has been a ton of injury news so I’ll just get right to it about the ones that would affect those in fantasy baseball.

Ian Snell

Ian Snell has been diagnosed with Medial Epicondylitis in his right elbow but according to the MRI the ligaments were read as normal. He was listed as day to day. While I do not doubt the diagnosis at this time, I’d be worried…

Ryan and I often joke that the one guy you never want to hear that your fantasy player is going to see is Dr. James Andrews. Andrews is legendary for performing major surgeries on some of sports biggest stars. Unfortunately for owners of John Smoltz, that’s exactly who will be working at his ailing right shoulder. John SmoltzSmoltz is scheduled…
