Beyond the Boxscore for August 21, 2008

The New York Yankees have decided that they will give the ball to Carl Pavano Saturday when the Yankees face the Orioles. Pavano, in the running for the worst contract in history, hasn’t pitched in a game since April 9, 2007. He has been a disappointment of epic proportions for the Yankees, but it has been injury related. The guy…

Beyond the Boxscore for August 15, 2008

It’s time for another quick game of “Who closed the game?”  Our first contestant is the New York Mets.  Billy Wagner is on a rehab assignment, but for the time being they are still trying to piece together the 9th inning.  Well, tonight Aaron Heilman came into the game in the ninth and……..got the save!  Heilman walked a batter but didn’t allow…

Beyond the Boxscore for August 9, 2008

Beyond the Boxscore–Fantasy MLB News and Notes 4/25/08 Minors Moves, Injury News, More

Welcome back Salty! After being inexplicably sent down to AAA to start the season, Jarrod Saltalamacchia is back with the Rangers. Starter Gerald Laird is still in Texas so this doesn’t necessarily mean that Salty will take the full time catching duties. He will most likely catch once or twice a week, DH some, and maybe grab some starts…

Beyond the Boxscore–Fantasy MLB News and Notes 4/24/08 Rockies closer, Liriano, Sell High, Hidden Gems, more

The top story of the day I guess is the change in the bullpen in Colorado. It was made official today that Brian Fuentes would be reinstated as Rockies closer, so all of you with Manny Corpas on your roster had better act fast (I already did). We covered in our article yesterday Corpas’ recent struggles, and they appeared…
