Fantasy Baseball Scouting 8.6.20

Welcome back to the Scouting Report for 8.6.20.  A reminder for those who are new, Cash Club takes the players who have favorable match-ups against the opposing starting pitcher.  There may be games that list – None – and that is for one of two reasons, there isn’t enough H2H data or there aren’t any favorable match-ups for the hitters. As a first, I'm adding some pitching notes to each game as well.  Enjoy and good luck today!

There are a lot of match-ups today with very limited to no history.  That makes today's Scouting Report crucial.  Take a few guys from who's hot and fill in the rest of your line-up with hitters from the Cash Club who have favorable H2H data.

Who’s Hot:

Aaron Judge 9/27 6 HR 14 RBI

Fernando Tatis Jr 9/29 3 HR 7 RBI 3 SB

Gio Urshela 9/21 3 HR 10 RBI

Max Kepler 8/23 2 HR 7 RBI

Luis Robert 9/25 1 HR 3 SB

Charlie Blackmon 11/24 1 HR 9 RBI

Trent Grisham 7/27 2 HR 3 SB

Nick Castellanos 7/20 4 HR

George Springer 7/20 2 HR 11 RBI

Mike Trout 3/7 3 HR

Christian Yelich 2/7 0 HR 0 RBI

Trea Turner 0/11

J.D. Martinez 5/21

Pete Alonso 3/26 0 HR

Anthony Rendon 3/21

Gleyber Torres 2/20

Jose Altuve 3/25

Cash Club

1:35 Twins at Pirates

Maeda 2-0 1.64 vs Brubaker 0-0 0.00

None – A lot of 0-for and 1-for in just a handful of at-bats vs Maeda and Brubaker has never faced any Twins hitters. I do like Maeda here.

3:10 Giants at Rockies

Tyler Anderson 0-1 3.68 vs Freeland 2-0 1.50

Flores 4/13 1 HR

Longoria 5/13 1 HR

Pence 5/10

Solano 3/5 2 HR

Yas 0/2 however, he’s the 15th best player in baseball so far this year so worth a shot and holding his own vs lefties 4/14 with a homer.

None vs Anderson, the Rockies are his former team and most of those guys in that line-up are career Rockies so this’ll be a first for most of them.  I don’t like either starter here.

3:40 Rangers at Athletics

Minor 0-2 5.91 vs Fiers 0-0 5.40

Canha 5/13 3 HR

Pinder 5/14 1 HR

Choo 10/27 3 Doubles

Neither of these guys is pitching well, don’t like either for today.

4:10 Angels at Mariners

Bundy 1-1 2.84 vs Walker 1-1 4.35

Trout 9/14 3 HR

Bundy could be a decent start if you need him, a lot of 0-for and 1-for match-ups.  All together current Mariners are only hitting .180 against him.  Stay away from Walker.

6:05 Yankees at Phillies

Montgomery 1-0 1.59 vs Eflin Season debut

None – Limited data all around here, the Yankees are playing too good to trust Eflin and Montgomery has only faced McCutchen and Gosselin – both are 1/2.

6:10 Reds at Indians

Castillo 0-1 4.50 vs Carrasco 1-1 3.75

Lindor 2/3 2 Doubles

Votto 6/13 1 HR

Castellanos 10/43 – not great but he’s the 4th best player in baseball right now.

Not a lot of data vs Castillo, mostly 0-for and 1-for in limited at-bats.  All together current Indians are hitting just .215.  As for Carrasco, there’s enough dynamite in that Reds lineup to stay away from him here.

7:07 Astros at Diamondbacks

Bielak 2-1 1.69 vs Gallen 0-0 2.70

None – These are two starters with completely blanks slates, no history.  Gallen pitched well vs the Dodgers last time out and Bielak has been coming out of the Houston bullpen.  I’m staying way from both starters but I might roll out one of the hot bats – Springer, Brantley, K. Marte

7:07 Cubs at Royals

Chatwood 2-0 0.71 vs Keller Season debut

None – Keller makes his debut, he’s 16-20 over first 2 seasons but an OK 3.68 ERA – I still don’t trust him vs the Cubs.  Chatwood has the makings of a good start here.  19ks in 12.2 IP and all current Royals are combined 4/21 against him.

7:10 Blue Jays at Braves

Pearson 0-0 0.00 vs Toussaint 0-0 8.10

None – Just the second start in Pearson’s career and Braves are 6-2 at home so stay away and Toussaint has a career 5.24 ERA in 77 big league innings, translation – he hasn’t put it together yet.

7:35 Orioles at Marlins

LeBlanc 1-0 4.09 vs Yamamoto Season debut

Jesus Aguilar 3/5

Marlins are actually 8th in OPS vs Lefties and Yamamoto is making his debut and has never faced any Orioles hitter.  If I use any of the hitters here, it’ll be someone from the hot list.

8:10 Brewers at White Sox

Lindblom 0-0 4.91 vs Gonzalez 0-0 7.36

None – Nothing concrete to go off of for Lindblom.  Gonzalez has faired well vs the Brewers hitters…68 cumulative at-bats and only a .201/.291/.306 slash line to show for it.  Based on the numbers Gio would be a safe start here.

Good luck today!
